Narrative: SPRUCE MESSAGE VISIT Date: 2023-06-15 Encounter: Spruce text message CC: Right ear burning, redness, and heat after recent swimming. HPI: Henry complained to his teacher and at home about his right ear burning. The ear appeared red and hot. He had been swimming the prior Saturday and Sunday. He was also noted to be emotionally irritable. No pain on manipulation of the outer ear. Parent had history of swimmer's ear herself. Assessment: Dr. Hobbs assessed that the absence of pain with manipulation of the ear makes swimmer's ear less likely. Advised to check for a bug bite along the hairline or back of the neck as an alternative explanation for the local inflammation. Plan: Monitor; check for insect bite near hairline/back of neck. No medications prescribed. Continue albuterol as previously directed. No ear drops prescribed given absence of manipulation pain.
