Phone Visit
Narrative: SPRUCE MESSAGE VISIT Date: 2024-02-26 Encounter: Spruce text message CC: Parents tested positive for COVID-19 and sought guidance on whether to test Miles and how to manage his exposure. HPI: Both parents tested positive for COVID-19 on 2024-02-26 and started Paxlovid the same day. The mother had symptom onset on Wednesday (2024-02-21) and the father on Friday (2024-02-23). Miles had no symptoms at the time of the message. Parents were concerned about whether Miles should be tested and what precautions he should take given his exposure in the household. Assessment: Miles was at high-risk household exposure to COVID-19. Given inability to fully isolate him from both parents, testing was recommended. Miles tested negative that evening. Plan: Miles was tested at home and was negative. Advised to mask when indoors around others and at school. Recommended retesting on day 6 if parents could reduce his exposure by masking and limiting shared spaces. Parent shared a Minnesota Department of Health COVID close contact guidance link. Key clinical quotes: "You should test him today, yes and then make some decisions from there." "If you stay masked around him, don't share common spaces and he stays symptom free, test again day 6. And he should mask at school." Source: Spruce conversation t_25GF4V55J8800
